GPC Offers Choices in Liquefied Cationic Starches
When it comes to liquefied cationic starches, Grain Processing Corporation offers choices to fit and meet your needs. Whether you need a ready to use liquid cationic starch for papermaking to enhance strength, retention and emulsification or have a need in water treatment systems for coagulation and flocculation, we can deliver. All of these liquefied starches provide cationic levels ranging from high to very high. They all employ a quaternary amine technology that remains functional in a wide range of pH, acidic to alkaline.
The liquefied CHARGEMASTER® cationic starch technology provides elevated cationic substitution levels to provide advantages for papermakers. Liquefied CHARGEMASTER® cationic starches also provide a performance bio-based renewable resource alternative for water treatment facilities.
CHARGEMASTER® L435 is a high degree of substitution (cationic charge) liquid starch for papermaking and is FDA approved for food contact papers. L435 delivers performance in wet-end retention, internal strength, broke coagulant for scavenging anionic interfering elements and ASA emulsification.
CHARGEMASTER® L340 is a much higher level cationic charged liquefied starch for papermaking and is also FDA approved for food contact papers. L340 delivers performance in wet-end retention, internal strength, broke coagulant for scavenging anionic interfering elements and optical brightener retention.
CHARGEMASTER® L360 is GPC’s highest cationic level liquefied starch and is used for water treatment. L360 gives water treatment operators a bio-based renewable resource choice for their coagulant and flocculant performance needs. L360 is not FDA approved for food contact papers.
Liquefied CHARGEMASTER® cationic starch elevated substitution levels provide:
- Increased retention of fines and sizing chemicals in demanding systems
- Increased sheet strength properties
- Reduced dusting and linting
- Increased sizing and reduced size addition
- Improved machine performance with reduced tray water consistency
- A bio-based renewable resource of water treatment system coagulants and flocculants
GPC’s liquefied cationic starches provide high level of charge (degree of substitution) that delivers performance benefits. These pre-dispersed liquid starches eliminate many of the costs of cooking (i.e. labor, steam and footprint). They are also easy to use because of their low viscosity; just dilute and go.
